Michael Barbour arrived on Bachelor In Paradise at the perfect time. Fan-favorite Olivia Lewis has been on a rollercoaster ride of a journey during season 9. Olivia’s tough time on the series hasn’t gone unnoticed by her co-stars who were hopeful that Michael would pick her for a first date.
From Day One on the Mexican sands, Olivia was “done dirty” according to fans. After sharing a kiss with Will Urena, Will then took Kylee Russell on a date and Olivia’s bad luck continued from there. Now, fans of the ABC show and Olivia’s co-stars want her to finally bag herself a man on Bachelor In Paradise.
Michael is Olivia’s Bachelor In Paradise ‘miracle’
When Michael, 29, arrives in Paradise, the first woman he wants to chat with is Olivia, 25.
Watching on as the two chatted, Olivia’s co-star Brayden Bowers described Michael as a “good dude.”
He hails from South Holland, Illinois, and works as a yacht captain.
After asking for chats with more of the ladies including Kylee, Sam P, and Mercedes Northup, Michael chose to go on his first date with Olivia.
He found fame on The Bachelorette
When Michael arrived on the ABC show, Brayden instantly recognized him and the two hugged.
This is because they spent time together on The Bachelorette season 20 which aired earlier this year. Brayden, Michael, and more of the Bachelor In Paradise stars were vying after Charity Lawson’s heart.
However, Charity ended up getting engaged to Dotun Olubeko from her season.
Michael was eliminated in Week Four.
Thankfully, he gets a second shot at romance on BIP and he and Olivia appear to form a solid connection right from the off.
Michael and Olivia appear to get on really well during their first dancing date, but the fan-favorite has a blooper moment when she forgets his name in a confessional.
Olivia jokes that she’s about to be off the market after meeting Michael before a producer asks her: “What’s his name?”
The BIP star blamed the “loud waves” as the reason she missed Michael’s name.
Do Michael and Olivia get engaged?
For contestants appearing on Bachelor In Paradise, there’s one main aim for their time on the show and that’s to get engaged.
Spoilers from Reality Steve reveal that Eliza and Aaron B and Kat and John Henry leave season 9 as engaged couples.
But, when it comes to Michael and Olivia, there’s no mention.
His Instagram post also states that Aven and Kylee appear to still be together despite not getting engaged on the show.
At the time of writing, Olivia and Michael follow each other on Instagram so we can at least assume that they’re still friends.
